Earth Day – Part 2

Mailbox

I’ve expanded my own Earth Day to extend into Earth Week, in order to make this a better place for my kids when they get older. One simple way to save a tree (and stop annoying junk mail from coming to my door) is by using these two services that I had recently discovered through the reading of other people’s blogs.

The first is ProQuo, which is a very easy site to use that enables you to simply click on a frequent publication (like the MoneyMailer coupons you get every month), and have the publisher automatically stop sending them to you. There are some publishers that require you to actually mail in a form to tell them to take you off of their list, and ProQuo will automatically generate that form, so all you have to do is sign it and slip it into the mail. It’s a really useful service.

Now ProQuo also helps you to one-click unsubscribe from all of those Victoria Secret and Crate & Barrel catalogs. Now, instead of calling up and waiting on hold for someone to unsubscribe you from many different catalogs, ProQuo can help you do it in a few simple clicks. Unfortunately, ProQuo does not have a huge list of catalogs yet added to their service (although it’s expanding). That is where my number 2 suggestion comes into play.

Catalog Choice is a similar service to ProQuo that automagically unsubscribes you from the catalog of your choice. The great part about Catalog Choice is that they have tons and tons of catalog titles that you can simply click on, so you are bound to find that unsubscribe link to the “Hugger Mugger” catalog, and other strange subscriptions that your name was harvested for.

Do your part too and save a few trees!
